Here at Cloud 9, the nation's largest paragliding school, we strive for top of the line service and education. We have 5 full time and 3 part time instructors, more than any other paragliding school in the country. Most other schools are one man shows, and are extremely inflexible when it comes to out-of-town students. At Cloud 9, we are able to teach seven days a week (weather permitting), and will always try our best to fit to your schedule. We specialize in teaching you from the ground up at your pace. Due to our abundance of instructors, Cloud 9 boasts small class sizes and high quality instruction. It is our goal to keep class sizes to a 2-to-1 student-to-instructor ratio. This helps us to create a better learning envrironment, and ultimately gets you up and flying solo in a very short period of time. Plus, we normally provide a shuttle service at the hill, meaning you wil likely get in twice as many flights as you would with another school.
And, if you ever need a question answered, are looking for a wing or harness, or just simply want to hang out with our amazing staff, stop by our store. It's conveniently located 10 minutes away from the hill, which makes it a great place to hang out between flights, watch instructional videos in the classroom, and get to know your instructors. We also have one of the largest on-hand inventories in the U.S., ranging from wings and harnesses to reserves and accessories (AND we boast the best wing repair in the country). We are dealers for the biggest names in paragliding, which means access to the best and newest gear on the market before the other guys. As we are the U.S. importers for the biggest brands in paragliding, wou will get the unique opportunity to try out several different types and brands of top-of-the-line gear. Not only that, but we also keep some of the best adventure toys on-hand just for fun. This means everything from electric unicycles to kiteboarding gear to longboards to skis. You name it, we've got it.
We're good...damn good. Our instuctors hold prestigious awards such as the USHPA Instructor of the year, as well as sponshorship and frequent media attention. Steve has taught and certified more P2's than any U.S. Hang Gliding and Paragliding association (our governing body) instructor in the history of the organization, Michelle has years of instruction and teaching experience all over the world, and Gary’s “Let’s do it" attitude will give you a wide range of instructors to fit your style of learning. We also have Jason and Justin White (TheWhiteBrothers) apprenticing here with us, when they aren’t out pulling stunts or making paragliding history.
If you just so happen to get bored with the extreme sport of paragliding, move on to another one! We offer instruction in speed flying, powered paragliding, and M1 & M2 certification. Cloud 9 is responsible for bringing speed flying to the United States, and is THE speed wing distributor. We offer all leading brands, and will be sure to teach you on top-of-the line gear.
As far as pricing goes, you will be hard pressed to find a bigger bang for your buck. Our Express P2 Certification Courses start every Saturday and run for 10 days ($1095). This gives us time to get the training done and account for bad weather days during your time here. Our NOVICE P2 Certification is a set-your-own schedule, where you can come out on days that work best for you ($1395). Both of our courses include your P3, P4 and P5 as you grow and develop in the sport. We encourage our students to return for more brush up's and offer free instruction for P3 and P4 certifications. We are here and encourage you to take advantage of us to work on more advanced skills, thermal flying, soaring in strong air, dealing with traffic, rides up and down the hill, etc. All our students get $500 off a new PG gear package and then receive ongoing "student prices" on gear for life, both in-store and online. Once a Cloud 9 team member, always a Cloud 9 team member.
